Dawn Hampton was born in Ohio 97 years ago this week. She was a beloved figure in swing dancing and taught Lindy Hoppers around the world in her later life. She was a cabaret performer for many years after starting her career singing and dancing with her father's band at the age of three (yes!), alongside her siblings. Her life is a history lesson in itself.
Dawn Hampton not only embodied musicality in her dancing, she was also a great raconteur. If you haven't heard it yet, do check out Ryan Swift's interview with her on his podcast, The Track.

Please enjoy this clip of Dawn dancing in 1998. It's a great reminder to us all that less is more! You don't need fancy moves to enjoy a soulful, playful dance that truly connects with your partner and with the music.
